Keisha is the author of three poetry collections, numerous essays, and journalistic articles.
Her writing has appeared in national publications like Honey, Psychology Today, Teen People, and Black Enterprise, covering topics from women's health and depression to intimate partner violence. In 2018, Keisha was selected as a Brooklyn Public Library Artist in Residence.
Her newest poetry collection, A Spell for Living, received the Editor's Choice recognition of Agape Edition's 2017 Numinous Orisons, Luminous Origin Contest poetry contest. Keisha's poems have been published in major literary journals like Renaissance Noire, African Voices, Mosaic Literary Magazine, The Mom Egg Review, and many others. She has graced the stage as a featured poet at historic venues like Cornelia St. Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Weeksville Heritage Center, and the Nuyorican Poets Café.
Keisha is the recipient of the Poetic Icon Award from Syracuse University
As a journalist and field producer, Keisha traveled the nation interviewing dignitaries, celebrities, politicians, and other notable figures for news and documentary programming, and has written for programs on A&E and the Hallmark Channel.
Keisha was selected to participate in the VONA Voices and Callaloo writing workshops and was short-listed for the Small Axe Literary Competition. She also continues to publish writing in a wide variety of genres, including short stories, essays, and scholarly articles.
